The phrase personal injury is usually used as a legal term to denote when a person has been hurt either physically, emotionally or mentally. This can happen due to negligence on the other person’s part or due to maliciousness.
In the legal system, most lawsuits involve cases of personal injury that were caused by traffic accidents. They can range anywhere from a simple ambulance ride to the hospital for a checkup or to the near fatal wounds that unfortunately occur all too often. The person who is at fault for the accident can be sued to cover any expenses incurred. Their vehicle insurance may cover some of it depending on the circumstances but in certain areas, suing for pain and suffering is included in the lawsuit and insurance does not cover that.
The court system uses discretion involving these cases and it is a must to bring documentation and proof to court as more people try to use the system to gain more profit from these circumstances. There are various types of proof required such as police reports, medical reports, and so on. A lawyer also may be hired for these proceedings as they can be quite a hassle but even just a simple consultation may be enough in some instances.
